🏛️ History
Known in antiquity as the Melas, the river was, according to the Roman author Pliny the Elder, the border between Pamphylia and Cilicia. The ancient geographer Strabo mentions the Melas river and an anchorage just after Side.

Boats leave from the piers on the riverbank in Manavgat town centre and reach the river mouth (Boğaz), where the river meets the sea, in about 35–40 minutes. There are also tours from Side harbour and with hotel pick-up. The town-centre piers are a short walk from the bazaar.
