Seleukeia (Lyrbe) Ancient City
Ancient ruins on a hilltop, away from the crowds.
Northeast of Manavgat, the site sits on a hill near the village of Bucakşıhlar.
The agora, a row of shops and surrounding building remains can be seen. The ground is uneven; comfortable shoes are recommended.
🏛️ History
Originally an ancient Greek city, the site was long known as Seleucia in Pamphylia; today some researchers consider the remains to be those of Lyrbe. On medieval portolan charts the city also appears as Scandalor.
Because its remote location spared it from being quarried for building stone, the agora, city gate, baths, necropolis, temples and churches are well preserved.
