Temple of Apollo

Standing columns on the seashore at the tip of the Side peninsula.

The re-erected columns of this Roman-era temple are the symbol of Side.

It is especially popular at sunset.

🏛️ History

The temples at the tip of the peninsula were dedicated to Apollo and to Athena, the city's patron goddess, and date to the 2nd century AD. The front columns seen today were re-erected during excavation work.

How to get there

The buttons open Google Maps with step-by-step directions from where you are.

Minibuses (dolmuş) run from Manavgat to Side frequently (about every 15 minutes); the ride takes about 20 minutes. During the day they terminate at Side bus station, from where a small train shuttles to the town centre at short intervals – you can also walk.

Pay the fare on board in cash; small notes are best.

The temple is at the tip of the peninsula next to the harbour, about a 10-minute walk from the ancient theatre.
