Vespasian Fountain
A monumental fountain at Side's main entrance, named after Emperor Vespasian.
Opposite the main gate of ancient Side, this Roman fountain stands out with its Corinthian columns, niches and statue bases. Water brought in by aqueduct was collected in a tank behind it and poured from the decorated front.
It is one of the first structures visitors see on arrival and shows both the practical and the showy side of Roman town planning.
